Laser Hair Removal is the best option for those who are tired of waxing, or shaving the unwanted hair from the body. It is one of the common cosmetic procedure nowadays. In order to heal the treated area quickly, you need to protect the skin and follow an aftercare routine.

1. Apply Ice on the treated area

After Laser Hair Removal treatment, you may have sun-burn like sensations on the treated part of the body. This part might also turn slightly reddish or swollen. Ice and cold packs are a good option to ease this pain. Wrap the ice or cold pack in a towel and rub it on the treated area smoothly for 10 minutes. Do not use the ice or the cold pack directly. Use this technique at least 3 times a day until the discomfort is gone.

2. Use Aloe Vera for the swelling

Aloe Vera soothes the skin and helps to get rid of the redness as well as swelling. Apply fresh Aloe Vera gel to the treated area. Let it get absorbed into your skin. Remove the excess Aloe Vera with a damp cloth. Repeat this 2 to 3 times a day until you get relief from the pain.

3. Protect the area from sunlight

The sunlight will irritate the treated area and possibly make the discomfort and redness worse. So see to it that you do not expose the treated area directly to sunlight. Make sure you cover the area with cloths while going outside in the sunlight. If you had the treatment on the face, use a hat to provide protection from the direct sunlight. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Always apply a sunscreen if you get the skin wet or sweat profusely.

4. Do not expose the treated part to the heat sources until complete healing.

Since laser treatments use heat to destroy hair, exposing the treated part to additional heat can increase skin irritation. Use cold or warm water for bathing so that the treated area heals quickly. Contact with hot water should be skipped for at least 48 hours after the treatment.

5. Avoid extensive workouts for a minimum of 48 hours after the treatment.

Workouts do raise body temperature. So it is advisable to skip extensive exercises after the Laser Hair Removal Treatment. Mild exercises, like walking, is okay. Just do not become overheated.
